Non-human forensic DNA services
The use of non-human DNA evidence is increasingly applied to investigate crime. Trace DNA samples are able to link a suspect to a crime scene even in the absence of human genetic material. DNA forensics is also applied to the investigation of the illegal wildlife trade and cases of animal persecution.
Tepnel operates a dedicated non-human forensic
DNA facility, one of only a few such laboratories in the world. We offer a suite of
services ranging from the development and validation of novel forensic assays through to casework analysis on behalf of the police, customs and leading forensic science services.
Applications vary among species, but include:
- Species Identification
- Individual identification
- Geographic origin identification
- Parentage analysis
- Sex determination
We have a proven track record of providing evidence to court. All work is carried out in compliance with the ISO17025 quality standard.
