The BIOKITS DNA Extraction Kit (GMO & Allergen) is intended to be used for the purification of high quality DNA from raw ingredients and finished products, prior to PCR analysis for the identification of genetically modified food ingredients.

The BIOKITS DNA Extraction Kit (GMO & Allergen) utilises proprietary magnetic bead technology to provide significant advantages over other methods of DNA extraction. The magnetic particles themselves are unique, being specifically designed to bind DNA and not the unwanted matrix components of foods that could interfere with the PCR reaction. The revolutionary combination of the quality and functional properties of the coating used on our particles stands the kit apart from all other systems. One main advantage is that the DNA is not precipitated, therefore co-precipitation of interfering components does not occur. Once the DNA has been immobilised on the surface of the particles they can be washed repeatedly; the resulting quality and purity of the DNA produced speaks for itself.

All batches of DNA Extraction kits are controlled under our ISO9001 quality system to ensure reproducible, high yields of pure DNA from a wide variety of sample types.

 

Samples are initially rendered homogeneous, then magnetic particles are used to selectively purify DNA molecules from sample lysates. DNA in the lysate is bound by the beads and the bead/DNA complex is washed with an ethanol solution. DNA is eluted off the magnetic beads using a buffered solution.
