An R&D opportunity has arisen to work within the Genetic Disease Testing part of the business. Initially, the successful candidate will work out of Abingdon, Oxfordshire until the end of the year when the business will relocate to Wythenshawe, Manchester. Reporting to the Diagnostics Development Manager the candidate will work as part of a team to provide the Gen-Probe Life Sciences business with the technical expertise to develop, validate and support all commercialized genetic disease testing products and services, the main duties and responsibilities include:
- Design and plan experiments to provide data through appropriate experimentation to enhance existing product performance and applicability of use
- Contribute to the project planning process, ensure all technical experimentation is focused toward agreed business needs
- Through full and accurate record keeping, document and report all experimental details and results as necessary for filing as Claims Support Papers for newly developed products and services
- Operate and maintain essential equipment to a high standard to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations and recommendations governing safety, health and environmental standards
- Support all products and services by providing technical knowledge and expertise to internal and external customers
Educational Qualifications: BSc in Bioscience or equivalent
Experience: PCR/DNA experience
Capillary Electrophoresis experience
Experience of Primer Design
Experience of Assay Development
Induction: 3 months
